Fire season...

We are all finished up with combining the wheat now! We took food to the guys nearly every night and Everett got to go for combine rides. He loved it and would chatter about "bombines" for days. Unfortunately wheat is ready to combine when it has dried out enough which usually requires hot dry days; and hot dry days mean fire season. One evening when Everett was done with his combine ride with "Papa" we were reaching up to get him down from the top step when thunder cracked and lighting struck in what felt like what was right on top of us. The picture below shows the combine where we were and the truck in the distance is where the lightning struck and started a fire in the wheat feild. We got it out quickly but it was a little scary how close it was.
Here is the storm rolling in.
